Bukahara: Unveiling the Melodic Tapestry of German Folk-Pop
History and Origin
Discover the fascinating journey of Bukahara, a dynamic four-member German Folk-Pop band that seamlessly weaves elements of Folk, Swing, North African influences, and Singer-Songwriter genres into their music. Formed in 2009 during their Jazz studies at the Cologne University of Music, the band members embarked on their musical odyssey, initially captivating audiences through street performances during their shared travels.
The band's name, as described by Daniel Schneider, is an "onomatopoeic word that sounds a bit exotic, but its origin remains a mystery." The quartet comprises multi-instrumentalists, with diverse backgrounds ranging from Tunisian and Jewish-Swiss to Syrian-Palestinian roots.
Debut and Beyond
In 2013, Bukahara unveiled their inaugural album, "Bukahara Trio," setting the stage for a series of concerts and tours primarily across Germany. Their melodic journey extended to the Netherlands, Croatia, Austria, France, Italy, and Switzerland. Following the success of their second album, "Strange Delight," in 2015, Bukahara graced stages in Germany, Ireland, England, and Italy.
Musical Exploration
The year 2017 marked the release of "Phantasma" under their self-founded label, "BML records," with notable appearances at renowned festivals like Summer Jam, Juicy Beats, Fusion Festival, Burg Herzberg Festival, Das Fest in Karlsruhe, Pohoda Festival, and Sziget Festival. Collaborating with Colombian band Doctor Krapula, Bukahara embarked on a tour in Colombia in 2018.
Vibrant Live Sessions
Capturing the essence of their musical prowess, the band recorded their live CD, "Live Sessions," in the Red Horn District in Horn-Bad Meinberg during the autumn of 2018. This live masterpiece was later released in the spring of 2019, showcasing Bukahara's electrifying stage presence.
