Joel Brandenstein, born on February 26, 1984, as Benjamin Joel Brandenstein, is a German pop singer hailing from Ratingen, who gained recognition through the internet.
Joel Brandenstein embarked on his musical journey around 2008, initially releasing music on the internet. In May 2011, he launched a YouTube channel featuring a cover of "Was immer du willst" by Marlon Knauer, accompanying himself on the piano. Subsequently, he continued to share numerous internet videos, showcasing both German and English ballads. Nearly a dozen of these videos achieved millions of views, with his rendition of Max Herre's "Wolke 7" amassing over 6 million views.
In 2014, Joel Brandenstein took the initiative to release his debut single. He promoted the self-written song "Diese Liebe" through his online presence and made it available on download platforms. Accompanying the release was a professionally produced music video, which garnered significant attention, propelling the song to the top 5 of the iTunes Charts in Germany shortly after its December 14, 2014 release. Despite limited internet promotion, the song also found success in Switzerland and Austria, entering the top 20 of the German Single Charts during the Christmas week.
The second half of the following year saw the success of two more songs, "Grenzenlos" and "Lebenskraft." In 2016, Joel Brandenstein stayed in the public eye with two collaborations, including a cover of "Nie vergessen" by Glasperlenspiel alongside Fuju, achieving respectable chart positions. Approximately two and a half years after his debut, Brandenstein's first album, "Emotionen," was released in April 2017 under Starwatch Entertainment (ProSiebenSat.1 Media). It debuted at number one on the German Album Charts and secured Top 20 positions in Austria and Switzerland. The subsequent album tour quickly sold out, prompting an extension with an additional 20 performances.
On May 8, 2020, Brandenstein released the duet "Der Himmel reißt auf" with German pop schlager singer Vanessa Mai. The single immediately reached position 89 on the German Single Charts, marking Brandenstein's return to the charts after four years. His last entry was in May 2016 with "Bis meine Welt die Augen schließt."
Joel Brandenstein openly identifies as a devout Christian. On July 17, 2020, he unveiled his second album, "Frei."
