Supported later by Fella Oner, Bertermann initially delved into Battlerap, with his last demo released in 2004 as EMP Cripz before a significant shift in direction.

Inspired by literary figures like Franz Kafka, Ernest Hemingway, Marquis de Sade, Michel Foucault, Pierre Bourdieu, and particularly Charles Bukowski, he rebranded as Prezident. Simultaneously, he pursued Germanistik and Geschichte studies at Bergische Universität Wuppertal. Referring to his music as "Whiskeyrap," he aptly dubbed himself "Hip Hop Hemingway." His mixtapes, such as "Musik zum aus dem Fenster springen" (2006) and "Vom Mann In Reno" (2007), showcased his evolving style influenced by Bukowski's works.
